1,960 more pallet positions, same four walls
The problem
Noumi is an Australian company driven by the purpose of imagining a healthier tomorrow. Noumi Shepparton is one of Australia’s largest producers of long-life dairy milk. Since commencing operations in 2014, the state-of-the-art Shepparton facility has manufactured a range of leading products, including MILKLAB.
MILKLAB is an Australian collaboration between food enthusiasts, baristas, and dairy farmers, developed specifically to complement the intensity and flavour profile of espresso-based coffee. As demand for existing products grew and new products were introduced into additional markets, upgrades to the Shepparton facility became essential.
With newly constructed warehouses rapidly filling with finished product, Noumi partnered with All Storage Systems on multiple occasions to optimise and reconfigure pallet racking systems throughout the site. These projects were designed to maximise storage capacity and support ongoing business growth without impacting production.
Processing up to one million litres of liquid product each day, the Noumi team identified that they would reach storage capacity within just three months as new products were launched into the market.
Expanding into a larger facility was not a practical solution. Significant investment had already been made in the existing Shepparton site, including upgrades to infrastructure, technology, and automation. Relocating would have required a lengthy property search, substantial fit-out costs, and months of operational disruption, all of which posed considerable challenges for a business operating at such a scale.
In October 2025, with only three months remaining before reaching full capacity, Noumi completed plans for a major redesign and expansion of its pallet racking systems. The company invited proposals from three suppliers, including All Storage Systems.
Following the review process, Noumi selected All Storage Systems based on our strong existing relationship, proven track record, and reputation for delivering reliable advice, service, and support. Our team worked closely with Noumi to develop a storage solution that maximised available space, improved operational efficiency, and supported the company’s continued growth.
What we did
We worked to the customer’s requirements. We partnered with Noumi to rollout the works efficiently and to their strict design and safety requirements. Working collaboratively with the in-house project engineer, our team were on site on time with inductions completed and with required PPE, tools and consumables.
We engineered it to be audit-ready. Food and beverage sites carry an audit load that most warehouses don’t. Every configuration was documented with load ratings and signed off to AS 4084-2023, and to Noumi’s own site-specific safety and operational requirements — so the racking is not just compliant, but demonstrably compliant when someone asks.
We staged the install around production, not the other way around. The Nutritionals upgrade was delivered before the end of 2025, with the remaining work completed in early 2026 — under six weeks of on-site work in total. Our crews worked to Noumi’s schedule, in Noumi’s PPE, under Noumi’s protocols.
The outcome
1,960 additional pallet positions — 1,900 newly installed, 60 recovered from racking Noumi already owned.
Zero production days lost. Not a day of output sacrificed to the upgrade.
No relocation. The capacity Noumi needed for its next stage of growth was already inside the building.
Documented compliance. Load ratings and racking documentation in place to AS 4084-2023 and site requirements.
Where the space came from:
Nutritionals Warehouse: 416 positions add
QA Retention Area: 136 positions added
Warehouse 3 — new racking: 1,348 positions added
Warehouse 3 — repurposed racking: 60 positions added
Total: 1,960
And it doesn’t stop at handover. We’ll continue to inspect, maintain and audit this racking for as long as it’s standing.
“Working with the All Storage Systems team was a great experience. They showed up on schedule with the right PPE and respected our internal processes and safety protocols.
“At Noumi we like to support local business, and having partnered with All Storage Systems for several years we knew they were the right choice for this project. We know we can call on Karl and the team, and they’ll continue to support us with maintenance, repairs and auditing for the lifespan of the racking.”
Paul Trewin — General Manager Operations Shepparton, Noumi
The point
Not every capacity problem is a building problem. Before you commit to a larger site, it's worth knowing exactly how much of the space you already pay for is actually working — and in food and beverage, whether it's working compliantly. That's what a food-safe storage assessment tells you. We walk your site and assess capacity, flow, hygiene exposure and racking condition, then give you a written view of what we found — including what you can recover without spending a dollar on new steel.
